100 Afghan Women is a documentary photography project that showcases the lives of Afghan women of different ages, backgrounds, occupations and lifestyles living inside and outside Afghanistan. In the past, and in the present for the most part, the image of Afghan women presented to the world has been from either a foreigner’s or an Afghan male’s perspective. The goal of this project is to present, from a female Afghan perspective, a broader and deeper view of Afghan women’s experiences. The stories of these women will inspire the younger generation and will also create a visual and textual historical record of 100 Afghan women who have lived between the 1960s and the present.
